Antiracism scholar to give talk
A respected scholar is to present two talks on how White people can embrace an antiracist life next week.
Shelly Tochluk, a professor at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Maryland, and author of Being White Today: A Roadmap for a Positive Antiracist Life, will give a free talk at the Bermuda College Library next Thursday, May 30, at 6.30pm
Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda, which invited Ms Tochluk, said it offered a unique chance for the community explore a difficult topic.
Ms Tochluk will also appear on June 1, when Curb presents “a transformative day of learning and engagement with the Curb speaker series conference”.
A spokeswoman for the organisation said: “This event will feature a series of impactful workshops led by Shelly Tochluk and award-winning poet and African-centred educator Melodye Micere Van Putten.
“Attendees will delve into the complexities of identity, develop practical antiracist strategies, and engage in meaningful dialogue about race and privilege.”
