High-speed superbikes will be showcased on Front Street this year when the Scooter Mart Motor Fest returns next month.

A spokesman said the event, presented by Bermuda Charge, will feature its first overseas exhibitor, Stoltzfus Logistics International, which will bring a 1985 Yamaha RD500LC and a 1986 Suzuki RG500 Gamma Walter Wolf Limited Edition to the island.

“With Stoltzfus Logistics International making this grand gesture of support to Bermuda's motoring enthusiasts, the event will proudly showcase immaculately preserved iconic bikes from the two-stroke era of the 1980s, giving many residents the opportunity to see and hear these machines for the first time,” the spokesman said.

“The superbikes are owned by Dean Stoltzfus, president and founder of his namesake company, and a well-known figure within the Bermuda biking community.

“It's an exciting addition for residents and visitors across the island, and signifies a key milestone for Scooter Mart Motor Fest, which is now attracting support on a global scale, as well as receiving special guests from the East Coast, England and Northern Ireland.”

Among those expected to come to the island for this year’s event is Steve Playtor, a superbike racing star and former Isle of Man TT champion.

Mr Playtor said he was looking forward to checking out the superbikes, saying: “They were the iconic bikes that everybody wanted when I was a youngster.

“I have ridden a lot of factory 500s, but I've never experienced these two beauties that are coming to Bermuda in June.”

The Scooter Mart Motor Fest is scheduled to take place on June 29 with live entertainment, vendors, children’s activities and hundreds of vintage and custom cars and bikes.
