Theatre reopens following major repairs
The Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall has opened following the completion of significant remediation and repair work.
The venue closed in September and all its scheduled events for 2024 were cancelled after an AC unit in the venue failed.
Patrick Cooper, engineer for the City of Hamilton, said: “We understand the impact that the theatre’s closure has had on event organisers and the artistic community.
“The HVAC system is critical to maintaining a high-standard facility and these upgrades were essential to restore full functionality and ensure an optimal experience for all users of the space.”
The City of Hamilton apologised for the “inconvenience and disappointment”.
The theatre can hold up to 378 patrons and has served as a hub for concerts, productions, lectures, galas and corporate events since opening in 1960.
Previously known as the City Hall Theatre, the venue was renamed in 2012 to honour the late Bermudian actor Earl Cameron.
