Charity to host programme for teenage girls

A charity that supports children and families will host a weeklong camp for adolescent girls next month.

Family Centre has tailored the programme — Girl Code — for girls aged 14 to 16 and offers a safe space to explore topics such as self-esteem, mental health and relationships.

Rishèe Paschal, a counselling team leader for the charity, said: “The response from last year’s participants and their families was incredibly encouraging.

“Parents observed significant positive changes in their daughters and many expressed a desire for more sessions to be offered.

“When girls are given a safe space to express themselves, their confidence grows and they begin to make more thoughtful, empowered choices.”

Discussions will be brought to life through creative arts, group activities and engaging experiences.

Participation is free thanks to the generosity of Family Centre’s donors.

However, a donation of $130 per attendee is encouraged to support the cost of materials and supplies for the group.

The course will run from July 21 to 25. To register your child, call 232-1116 and ask for the on-call screener.

Spaces are limited and registration is required.
