Sports car among attractions at motor festival
A modified sports car has been added to the line-up expected to thrill residents at the annual Scooter Mart Motor Fest this weekend.
Presented by Bermuda Charge, the free event on Front Street on Sunday will feature an Audi TT Roadster, which will compete against other modified sports cars in the Best in Show category.
Organisers said the event is to deliver another “thrilling year of horsepower, community and creativity for thousands of onlookers”.
An action-packed day filled with live performances, including from the Warwick Gombeys, exhibits and family-friendly entertainment has been planned.
A Traditional Village, east of the flagpole, will be packed with colourful vintage bikes, modified custom creations and classics to compete for $4,000 of cash prizes at the Best in Show contest.
Other prizes include a two-night stay at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, to be awarded to the winner of the Hamilton Princess Work of Art award, which recognises bikes with outstanding artistic merit.
Steve Plater, a former motorcycle race champion, will award free luxury stays at the Hillcrest Boutique Hotel in St George’s to the winner and the runner-up of the Plater's Choice award.
The event will feature powerboat racing in Hamilton Harbour and camera crews will interview top-billed performers.
Local motor sports clubs will show off their skills in the Action Arena.
At the birdcage area, spectators can expect to see a “mesmerising collection” of vintage and custom cars.
Other highlights include performances by international stunt rider Clutchup Corey, who will perform in the Mailboxes Send It Stunt Show.
The event will feature international vintage superbikes at the Stolzfus Logistics tent and Mr Plater, an Isle of Man TT winner, will try his luck in the CG Slow Race.
