Organisers for Bermuda Pride today announced another two top sponsors for the celebrations, which are taking place this week.

Fortitude Re and Bacardi Ltd each renewed their rainbow sponsor status for the series of events, organised by the LGBTQ+ advocacy charity OutBermuda.

The position is reserved for organisations that have donated at least $20,000.

OutBermuda welcomed the companies’ continued support, particularly during a time when “LGBTQ+ rights are under pressure globally and many Pride organisations are facing reductions in funding”.

Joshua Samuels, the charity’s executive director, said entities that offer funding year after year showed what it meant to be allies of the cause.

He added: “Fortitude Re’s return as a rainbow sponsor reflects an ongoing investment in Bermuda’s LGBTQ+ future and an understanding that true inclusion requires consistency.”

Mr Samuels said: “Bacardi’s continued sponsorship helps make Pride more than a parade — it helps create a movement rooted in inclusion, visibility and belonging.”

Amanda Stewart, the senior vice-president of employee experience at Fortitude Re, pointed out that this will mark the company’s third year of sponsorship for Bermuda Pride.

She added that the organisation was proud to help OutBermuda with its “mission of championing dignity, safety and belonging for all”.

Ms Stewart said: “Pride week is about more than events or a parade — it’s about honouring the courage it takes to be your authentic self and the importance of creating a workplace where everyone feels safe, seen and supported.

“Our commitment to inclusion is foundational to who we are at Fortitude Re and one we live out every day.

“It shows up in how we support one another, how we create space for every voice to be heard and how we continue to learn and grow together.”

Danielle Paynter, the director of corporate affairs at Bacardi, said: “At Bacardi, we believe that true community is built when every individual feels a sense of belonging.

“Our continued support as a rainbow sponsor of Bermuda Pride reflects our commitment to creating spaces where people are free to be their most authentic selves.

“We are proud to stand with OutBermuda and others who champion inclusion, connection and the power of unity.”

The Pride parade through the City of Hamilton will take place tomorrow from 3pm after activities begin at noon in Victoria Park.
