Banners and signs survey launched
Residents have been invited to take part in a survey over roadside signage.
The Ministry for the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation said the online consultation is geared at modernising Bermuda’s laws around banners, posters and roadside signs.
It follows a commitment by the Government to update the islands signage laws for the first time in over 30 years.
Residents can share their views through a short online survey and discussion forum available at forum.gov.bm/en/projects/banners-and-signage.
The consultation is open until August 11.
Diallo Rabain, the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation, acknowledged growing public concern over the unregulated spread of outdoor signs and advertisements across the island.
“As a government, we recognise the need to strike a balance between supporting cultural and commercial activities and preserving the appearance and safety of our public spaces,” he told MPs last week.
He added: “We have heard the feedback from residents and businesses, and it is clear that the current rules are no longer fit for purpose.
“This is an opportunity for everyone — residents, business owners, event organisers and concerned citizens — to help shape how our island manages.
“Whether you have concerns, suggestions or practical experience to share, we want to hear from you.”
Mr Rabain encouraged residents to take part.
The Government said the survey is part of a wider effort to ensure that any future legislation is clear, fair and enforceable.
In addition to the public consultation, the ministry will continue targeted stakeholder engagement and analysis of signage practices across the island.
