Family Centre launches annual tag day fundraiser
Family Centre has dedicated this year’s annual Cup Match-themed fundraiser to its late founder, Martha Dismont.
The charity, with the help of Clarien Bank, has offered St George’s and Somerset ribbons at stores across the island for $3.
The fundraiser serves as Family Centre’s largest cash-collecting programme, with the funds going towards therapeutic counselling services and outreach programmes.
Sandy De Silva, the charity’s executive director, said it was Bermuda’s only non-profit mental health organisation catering to young people that was not hospital or government-based.
She added: “What is unique to Family Centre’s therapeutic counselling services and community outreach programmes is our wraparound, holistic approach to children and teens who are experiencing social and emotional challenges.”
Jenn Wild, the chief administrative officer of Clarien Bank, said the bank was proud to support the event.
She said: “This initiative reflects our deep belief in strengthening community wellbeing, especially when it comes to the mental and emotional health of Bermuda’s children and families.”
Ms Wild added: “The joy, unity and purpose behind tag day remind us all that, when we invest in our young people, the whole island benefits.
“Your participation honours Martha Dismont’s legacy and helps carry forward her vision of healing, hope and opportunity for all.
“We encourage everyone to wear their St George’s or Somerset ribbons with pride and play a part in this meaningful tradition.”
Family Centre tag day will be held on July 30.
Outside of retail stores, ribbons can be bought through Family Centre’s website, though the price will be slightly more to cover free delivery.
