‘Mama Vese’ rings in 100 with friends and family
Louise “Mama Vese” Parris celebrated her 100th birthday last week with a party at the Bella Vista Restaurant and a visit from David Burt, the Premier.
Ms Parris, originally from St George’s, was known for her generosity, warmth and humour and remains full of life even at 100.
“In her younger days, she was active in both golf and cricket, playing as a spin bowler alongside her close friends, who called themselves ‘Charlie’s Angels’,” a government spokeswoman said.
“She had a gift for creating handcrafted dolls and flower bouquets made from wool, with her home proudly displaying a collection of her work.
“She loved to travel and cruise but also took great joy in cooking for others.
“Her home was known for its open-door policy, always welcoming guests and family.”
Mr Burt said he was thankful for the opportunity to celebrate such a meaningful milestone, noting Ms Parris’s lasting impact on her family and the wider community.
