A ceremony honouring men and women who have been lost at sea took place in the East End last week.
The Guild of the Holy Compassion organised the annual event in Murray’s Anchorage off the coast of St George’s on Thursday.
The Right Reverent Nicholas Dill, Anglican Bishop of Bermuda, said the wreaths were cast into the waters “in remembrance of all who have gone down to the depths”.
He highlighted pilots who had lost their lives while aboard the pilot gig Ocean Queen in the East End in 1927.
Pilot Mario Thompson, who laid the first wreath, said: “We honour those mariners who service these islands and especially those who lost their lives at sea — may their memories live on in our lives.”
