Forum to shed light on gender equality

An event next week in Hamilton will focus on engaging residents in meaningful conversations geared towards gender equality.

The Gender Affairs Council said the gathering, themed “Gender: What is it?”, will take place next Wednesday from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation training room.

The GAC will highlight its role in promoting fairness in Bermuda.

The session will explore how gender is defined and understood, with a look at evolving language, social structures and lived experiences.

Attendees can take part in breakout discussions on themes including gender discrimination and stereotypes, workplace equity and mental health.

The GAC emphasised that real progress required community input, and that public participation was essential to understanding where the island stands on gender equity and how it can progress.

The body invited people to register, attend and contribute, whether by sharing experiences, offering feedback or being open to listening and collaborating.
