Shelly Bay playground piece helps little ones flourish
The addition of playground equipment that supports the development of young children has been celebrated by the public works minister and an area MP.
Upgrades were made at Shelly Bay Beach Park as part of a wider scheme to “enrich recreational spaces for families”, the Government said.
Jaché Adams, the Minister of Public Works and Environment, and Wayne Furbert, the MP for Hamilton West, marked the addition of the play equipment yesterday and other enhancements yesterday.
One item, named Landon’s Lair, was designed for youngsters aged between 2 and 5.
It was said by the Government to support toddlers’ “physical, social and cognitive development during a critical growth phase”.
Mr Adams said: “Shelly Bay is a beloved destination for families and these upgrades reflect our commitment to creating safe, engaging and sustainable environments for our youngest citizens.”
He highlighted that additional repairs at the facility are under way as the Government works to modernise playgrounds across the island’s national parks with “visually cohesive and environmentally responsible” equipment.
The minister thanked Horsfield Landscape and Design for installing the piece, the Department of Parks for its work and Mr Furbert for serving Hamilton Parish.
Mr Furbert added: “This is a wonderful step forward for Shelly Bay and for the families who enjoy this space year-round.
“I’m pleased to work alongside Mr Adams to ensure our parks remain vibrant and welcoming for all generations.”
