KEMH traffic restriction for medical equipment removal

A route at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital will be disrupted for one morning this week, the Bermuda Hospitals Board advised.

The BHB said that the road on the hospital’s campus that connects Berry Hill Road and Point Finger Road will not be accessible on Thursday from 7.30am to about noon.

The closure is to facilitate the removal of 18-year-old nuclear medical equipment.

The road will be blocked near the orthopaedic clinic entrance near the old emergency department.

The BHB said: “People will be able to walk from Berry Hill Road and access the entrance, but will not be able to drive through.

“People coming from Point Finger Road will be able to access up to the general wing lobby and Agape House.”

The nuclear equipment is being removed as part of the hospital’s diagnostic imaging replacement project. The new equipment will be installed after the area has been prepared.

The nuclear imaging service remains closed until about September 24 while work is carried out.
