Government seeks vendor for officer training

Deadline: applicants have until September 30 to submit proposals

The Government is seeking an experienced vendor to train public officers on customer service.

A request for proposals published on August 20 stated that the chosen vendor will arrange and deliver training to “ensure public officers are well-equipped to meet the needs and expectations of the public”.

Training will encompass existing customer care standards and the best practices for providing services in-person and over the phone.

The notice added: “The selected vendor will collaborate closely with the Department of Employee and Organisational Development, culminating with the delivery of Train-the-Trainer modules to ensure assigned public officers can provide continuous training after initial implementation.”

The RFP said training should be designed to accommodate up to 30 participants per session and highlight customer needs, interaction techniques, problem-solving skills and Government service standards.

It explained: “Ultimately, the training programme will be mandatory for new hires within the public service and also available as a refresher.

“This phase of the project will focus on piloting training to 400 participants over a three-month period.”

The Government will consider if proponents are Bermudian-based and how many Bermudians they employ, as well as if the team can deliver the training and their work on previous projects when making its final decision.

The terms of the RFP prohibits proponents from liaising with the media without prior written permission or accepting payments or promises “in order to retain or obtain business, to secure an improper advantage or benefit of any kind or nature” from government employees and anyone associated with them.

Alneisha Outerbridge, the RFP contact, can be reached at aljouterbridge@gov.bm.

Applicants have until September 10 to submit questions about the procurement and any addenda will be issued by September 17.

Proposals must be submitted by September 30, the Government will rank proponents by October 17 and the agreement is expected to be finalised by October 31.
