Show delayed ahead of hurricane
The opening of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been delayed because of Hurricane Imelda.
The show at City Hall has been months in the making, with a cast of 53 local performers, and is supported by a professional creative team with West End and Broadway credentials.
While the original opening was scheduled for tomorrow, the first performance will now take place on Thursday.
Ticket holders for the cancelled Wednesday show may contact Ptix to exchange their tickets for an extra performance on October 6.
The “opening” gala has also been rescheduled to October 6, when it will be held as a special mid-run gala.
Attendees that evening will be offered complimentary drinks after the show and can meet members of the cast.
Jamie Wilkin, the show’s director, said: “This production is a true celebration of imagination and creativity — every moment is crafted to surprise and delight.
“From the jaw-dropping visuals to the incredible talent on stage, audiences are truly in for a treat.
“While we're disappointed not to share it with everyone on Wednesday, the extra day has only heightened the anticipation.
“We can’t wait to finally bring the magic to Bermuda.”
Katrina Kawaley-Lathan, the president of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, added: “I think people will be blown away by the immersive, visual world the professional team has created and, as always, we have a stellar cast of amazingly talented Bermudians.”
Tickets remain available for October 2 to 10 through Ptix.bm
