Men’s grief support group launches

A grief support service is launching a new programme to help men deal with death-related loss.

Tuwile, a counselling practice that specialises in grief support, will offer Men’s Speak: Grief and Loss every two weeks from 6pm to 7pm at Suite Solutions at 3 Mill Creek Road, starting on October 16.

The organisation added: “Over six guided sessions, participants will have the opportunity to process their grief, share openly and gain tools for healthy coping and healing.”

Jeelise Allen, the Tuwile, said: “Men are told to ‘man up’ and push through pain because they are supposed to provide and protect, but that only makes grief heavier and increases their risk of mortality.

“Men’s Speak gives men permission to lay that weight down, to be real and to learn healthier ways of coping.

“Men have feelings too and they deserve to be heard and validated.

“This group isn’t about weakness, it’s about finding strength together.”

Meetings, which will take place on October 16 and 30, November 13 and 27 and December 11 and 18, cost $25 each and participants must commit to all six sessions.
