Community search for missing teen Ja’Dore Wilson begins tonight
Wayne Caines, a former MP and Belco president, has issued a call for action in his personal capacity for members of the community to join a search for missing teenager Ja’Dore Wilson.
Belco released a statement on behalf of Mr Caines today saying a community search begins at 6pm and will continue each night at the same time until she is found.
He is calling on everyone who is able to assist to join the search party.
Ja’Dore was last seen on the morning of September 17 at her home on North Terrace, Pembroke.
In his statement, Mr Caines wrote: “Bermuda, our island community has been deeply moved by the disappearance of 15-year-old Ja’Dore Wilson … Her family is at their wits’ end — heartbroken, desperate and yearning for the safe return of their daughter.
“This moment calls for all of us as neighbours, friends and fellow Bermudians to come together. We are a small but powerful community, and when one family suffers, we all feel the pain.
“Now is the time to show that Bermuda cares, that we will not rest until Ja’Dore is found and safely returned home.”
Mr Caines said search efforts tonight will continue until about 8pm and that “all members of the public are encouraged to participate”.
The meeting point is at the Evening Light Pentecostal Church at 45 Parsons Road, Pembroke.
Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to bring a flashlight and wear luminous vests or bright clothing. A safety briefing and key instructions will be provided before each search begins.
Mr Caines added: “We are asking sports clubs, churches, businesses, lodges, schools, fraternities, sororities and everyday Bermudians to commit to at least one evening of service over the next few weeks.
“Together, we can create a schedule of continuous community presence and search coverage in key areas identified with the Bermuda Police Service and Ja’Dore’s family.”
Anyone able to volunteer or provide information is asked to visit www.missingpersonbda.com, where they can sign up to volunteer, anonymously report any sightings or tips, view an interactive map, leave location details and stay connected.
In addition to visiting the website, interested parties can scan the QR code below using their WhatsApp camera to join the Find Ja’Dore Wilson WhatsApp community.
They will receive real-time updates, search schedules and details on how to participate.
Mr Caines said he is working in full consultation with Ja’Dore’s family and the BPS.
“This is not just about one family’s pain; it’s about who we are as a people. Bermuda’s greatest strength has always been its community, and this is the moment to prove it once again,” he said.
“Let’s come together with one voice, one purpose and one heart to bring Ja’Dore home.
“You can make a difference.
“Please show up tonight at 6pm and keep showing up until Ja’Dore is found.
“With hope and determination.”
In addition, Crime Stoppers Bermuda has offered a $3,000 reward for information about Ja’Dore’s location.
