Belco has partnered with a charity that provides child-safeguarding training to display promotional banners at the National Sports Centre.

The banners highlighting Saving Children and Revealing Secrets will each carry the message: “Every child is a treasure! Be a light in their life; value them, teach them and protect them.”

The message aims to remind adults that every child deserves to be protected, and that they are valuable.

Wayne Caines, the Belco president, said: “At Belco, we are extremely supportive of Scars and their mandate to protect children from all forms of abuse.

“Our children are the next generation of leaders and we must do all we can to ensure they have a bright future.

“By having these banners in a venue such as the National Sports Centre, the message will reach a large number of residents and remind the community of our duty to care for and protect children.”

Debi Ray-Rivers, Scars founder and executive director, added: “Scars is excited to partner with Belco in delivering this message to all the adults and children in our community.

“The analogy of light made it a perfect partnership. Every child is a treasure and we as adults should be a light in their life.

“Our hope is that this message will remind adults what every child deserves and remind every child that they are valuable.

“We are also thankful to the National Sports Centre for providing us with this opportunity to spread awareness.”
