Woman’s tale of redemption added to national library
A memoir penned by an island author about her grief and healing journey after her father’s death has taken its place on the shelves of the Bermuda National Library.
On the Brink of Insanity was written by Cheyra Bell, who chronicled how “loss shattered her sense of self and led her through struggles with mental health and addiction”, the Government said.
A spokesman added that Diallo Rabain, the Minister of the Cabinet Office and Digital Innovation, had been officially presented with a copy.
Ms Bell’s book describes how the loss of her father upended her life, with an account of her discovery of resilience and the strength to rebuild.
Mr Rabain said: “The Bermuda National Library plays a vital role in preserving the creative and intellectual legacy of our people.
“Works like Ms Bell’s memoir not only enrich our national collection but also remind us of the courage it takes to share one’s experience. I commend Ms Bell for using her voice to inspire healing and resilience within our community.”
One of the national library’s functions is to serve as a repository for Bermuda’s published heritage — safeguarding stories, research and creative works that reflect the island’s culture, history and people.
