Gombey Festival postponed until Sunday

A forecast of continuing high winds later today has led to the postponement of the Gombey Festival until tomorrow.

The Department of Culture said the conditions posed a logistics and safety concern for the festival, scheduled to begin at 5pm in the Botanical Gardens in Paget.

The festival this year will pay tribute to master drummer Kent Henry, leader of the Phoenix Gombey troupe.

A spokeswoman apologised for any inconvenience and said attendees would be welcomed to the event on Sunday.
