A donation of $100,000 over five years is to support a charity’s work in cancer prevention, early detection and ensuring equal access to care.

The Green family have committed the funds to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, bringing the total amount they have donated to the organisation since 2012 to $750,000.

The centre aims to ensure that residents can receive the screening, diagnosis and treatment they need, with no one turned away because of inability to pay.

On behalf of the family, Alexander Green said: “The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre performs critical work in our community.

“Cancer touches the lives of so many, and we hope this donation will make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected.”

The centre said it plays a leading role in reducing the impact of cancer and other health concerns through education, prevention, early detection and support, and that its radiation therapy unit, operated in partnership with the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Centre, ensures Bermudians can receive world-class treatment.

Chris Fosker, the medical director and chief executive of the BCHC, said: “We are deeply grateful to the Green family for their continued generosity and trust in our work.

“Multiyear commitments like this enable us to plan ahead with confidence and sustain essential cancer prevention, diagnostic and treatment services for our community.”
