Giving spirit takes flight with song

Roaring success: the Lions Clubs of Bermuda joins The MarketPlace for their 37th annual Share the Christmas Spirit campaign, with a performance by Aubree Hill, left, Alexandra Wellington, Kaylee Kelly, Seraiah George and Anil Bell, of the Bermuda Institute sign-language choir Silent Praise (Photograph by Blaire Simmons)

Bermuda's Share the Christmas Spirit campaign to help families in need began yesterday morning at the Church Street MarketPlace in Hamilton.

It marked the 37th year with the programme to make the season a little brighter for the less fortunate — and lift spirits with young voices in song in the process.

The giving spirit calls on customers to donate nonperishable food items at the supermarkets across the island, which the Lions Clubs of Bermuda collect and assemble into food hampers.

The gifts go out to the campaign’s list of households in time for Christmas.
