Dedicated public servant takes top tax role
A civil servant whose “academic and professional credentials reflect her commitment to excellence” has been appointed as the Ministry of Finance’s Tax Commissioner, it was announced today.
Joelene Lindsay will lead domestic tax collection and provide key analysis, reporting and policy advice to the Ministry of Finance.
She will work under the direction of the Financial Secretary and Deputy Financial Secretary, overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the Office of the Tax Commissioner, the government said.
The appointment was announced by Cherie Whitter, the Head of the Public Service.
“Mrs Lindsay brings a distinguished career and deep institutional knowledge to the position, having served in multiple capacities within the Office of the Tax Commissioner,” the Government added.
“Most recently, she held the post of Assistant Tax Commissioner for audit and compliance, where she played a pivotal role in shaping policy and procedures to enhance taxpayer compliance.
“Joelene Lindsay’s academic and professional credentials reflect her commitment to excellence.”
Ms Lindsay has a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s in business administration.
She is a certified internal auditor and a certified fraud risk specialist.
The Government said: “She is also a graduate of the Bermuda Government Executive Leadership Programme, underscoring her dedication to public service and leadership development.”
