The Government has put out a call to artists to help beautify Bermuda’s bus shelters.

A recent notice, published on the Government’s procurement website, sought expressions of interest for artists, community groups and schools interested in creating murals on bus shelters across the island.

The notice described the proposal as a “three-year initiative to transform bus shelters into vibrant, meaningful works of art that celebrate our community's cultural heritage”.

Interested parties were asked to complete an application form, including a sketch of the intended mural, and submit it to the Ministry of Public Works and Environment before by 3pm on February 5.

Applications will be assessed by a dedicated committee based on creativity, cultural relevance and feasibility.

Documents included with the notice state that the murals will remain in place for a period of two years, and that a stipend will be awarded upon successful completion of the mural.
