New Year’s Day is among popular times during the season for the island’s Gombey troupes to don regalia for performances in public.
For the H&H Gombeys, welcoming 2026 came with a poignant look back as the group mourned the loss of Zaniko Hendrickson, a lifelong member.
Mr Hendrickson’s death last month came shortly after the lead drummer and co-owner of the troupe marked his 35th birthday.
Photographer Blaire Simmons caught up with the group’s drumming and dance on Ord Road in Paget.
