Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, thanked the public for coming together in search of a missing boy on Wednesday.

The 8-year-old was found safe after an extensive search in the West End by police and concerned members of the community.

Mr Simons said: “It is important to comment and commend the way several members of our Bermuda community, as well as members of the local media, came together to assist police officers in searching for the 8-year-old boy on Wednesday evening in Sandys.

“The spirit of care and co-operation shown embodied Bermuda at its best, where people from diverse backgrounds quickly unite to help because it is the right thing to do.

“To everyone that participated in Wednesday evening’s Somerset area search, including my Bermuda Police Service colleagues, I share a sincere thank you.

“Your willingness to actively be a part of the solution demonstrated the power of our community’s resolve to support each other.”
