Bermuda is Love releases January charitable schedule
Bermuda Is Love has released its outreach schedule for January, which will include health screenings, legal advice and blood drives.
The charity also announced the resumption of its breakfast programme at Elliot Primary School and called for volunteers to help it to feed pupils every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bermuda Is Love said today: “We believe every child deserves to begin the school day nourished, supported and ready to learn.
“For all students, breakfast is essential to their ability to focus and thrive in the classroom.”
It added: “To keep this programme running, we are seeking community volunteers.
“Whether you can help once or regularly, your support makes a difference.
“Volunteering is a powerful way to show students that their community cares and believes in them.”
The charity will start its schedule with a free legal advice clinic, where law students and qualified attorneys will offer guidance on topics ranging from employment to wills and estates.
That session will be held at the Adult Education School on Dundonald Street between 9am and noon on Saturday.
The charity will hold a blood drive at the Blood Donor Centre at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on January 13 between 8.30am and 2.30pm.
A community trash clean-up will be held on January 18 at Admiralty House in Pembroke between 10am and noon.
Bermuda Is Love called for volunteers to join in at Christ Church Warwick to help with the church’s feeding programme.
Participants will volunteer at the church on January 24 between 9.30am and 11.30am.
The next day, Bermuda Is Love will host a community garden day when members of the public can use a space while learning from other planters.
The charity said: “No prior experience is needed. Whether you plant, water or help maintain the garden beds, every contribution counts.
“Volunteers of all ages are welcome and tools and supplies are provided.”
The gardening event will be held at the TN Tatem community garden in Warwick between 10am and noon on January 25.
The schedule this month will end with a free health screening at Ocean Rock Wellness on Point Finger Road, Paget.
The check will include a body composition assessment and professional advice based on results.
Bermuda Is Love said the screening will be “a great opportunity to catch potential health issues early, ask questions and learn how to maintain a healthier lifestyle”.
It will be held on January 31 between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
