Home receives $5,000 donation from freight company
The charity Home has received a $5,000 holiday-season donation from Bermuda International Shipping Ltd.
Representing Meyer Freight Ltd, it is the second sum of support made by BISL to the charity over the past year.
A Home spokeswoman said that the donation followed a visit by two representatives of Meyer Freight Ltd, George Butterfield, a vice-president, and Konika Spence, an assistant freight manager, to the charity’s facilities.
She said the money will be used to help fund the charity’s work of providing clients with necessary support, including shelter and assistance in navigating and accessing the essential services they require to move on from homelessness.
It will also help clients with their preparation for tenancy and employment, and support them on a path to sustainable, independent living.
Mr Butterfield said: “Once again, on behalf of BISL, we are pleased to make this donation to Home.
“Not only does Home provide shelter, but their team also help clients make life-changing transformations.
“It’s my hope that we can continue to provide support in the future.”
Ms Spence said: “This was my second visit to Home, and I’m truly impressed with the excellent level of service and care provided.”
Denise Carey, the chief executive and executive director of the charity, said: “We are deeply grateful to Bermuda International Shipping Ltd for its continued support.
“Partnerships with members of the business community are vital to Home’s work as they provide the resources that enable us to deliver shelter and the wraparound services our clients need to rebuild their lives with dignity, stability and independence.”
BISL operates the Bermuda Islander, which provides a weekly cargo shipping service between the Port of Salem, in New Jersey, and Bermuda.
Meyer Freight Ltd, a member of the Meyer Group of Companies, is BISL’s agent in Bermuda.
