Bermudian officers were praised for completing a training course aimed at strengthening decision making in high pressure situations.

A total of 12 inspectors and sergeants from the Bermuda Police Service and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force took part in the recent incident commander course, delivered by the BPS’s training and development unit.

The course was organised in partnership with the Foreign Office and Investigo Government Solutions UK.

A BPS spokesman said: “This engagement reflects a continued commitment to the enhancement of leadership capacity across policing.

“The incident commander course is a scenario-based, command-focused programme designed to support inspectors in managing complex, high-risk incidents.

“The programme focused on professional judgment and decision making, risk ownership and escalation, multi-agency co-ordination, managing competing demands and public scrutiny, and exercising defensible command under pressure.”
