The Salvation Army of Bermuda provided more than 29,000 meals to people in need last year, the charity’s regional public relations officer said.

In a video discussing the organisation’s 2025 impact, Captain Dennis Maybury said The Salvation Army also provided 8,050 nights of safe shelter and its street ministry team recorded more than 9,400 interactions.

Mr Maybury explained: “At our addictions treatment centre, we support recovery with more than 3,600 residential bed days, helping individuals take their first steps towards renewed lives.”

The organisation announced intentions to expand its residential bed programme on King Street from ten to 14 after closing its thrift store last year.

Mr Maybury added: “We walked alongside families in crisis through 8,000 visits for practical assistance and 1,125 visits for Christmas support.”

The video was released on January 30, about six weeks after the charity reported a 50 per cent reduction in fundraising compared with 2024.

Mr Maybury said at the time: “The cost of living in Bermuda is so high and people need the extra help.

“A number of people, for one reason or another, have lost their jobs and are referred to us for assistance. We are seeing families with children come in.”

He said one month later that the charity was nearing its $1 million goal and hoped to raise the full amount in “coming weeks”.

The Salvation Army provided 550 community care visits and 312 referrals for housing, employment and other needs last year.

Captain Maybury said: “All of this was made possible by the tireless efforts of 6,000 volunteer hours and the faithful service of our officers and staff at our four community churches.”

He added: “Every act of kindness touched someone’s life in Bermuda, it reflects what is possible when a community comes together to support one another.”
