BAMZ to close today for crane operations on North Rock Tank
The Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo will be temporarily closed today and tomorrow for the next phase of the North Rock Tank crane operations.
The closure is necessary to ensuring the long-term structural integrity, water tightness and overall safety of the iconic exhibit.
Ian Walker, the principal curator of BAMZ, explained: “This is one of those moments where a lot of unseen work makes everything visitors love possible.
“These lifts are a critical step towards ensuring the North Rock Tank continues to serve as a world-class exhibit for decades to come.”
The crane operations will involve heavy lifting directly over public areas, making a full-facility closure necessary.
The job had been scheduled for earlier, but got delayed over rough weather, including high winds.
The last entry today will be at noon before the site closes at 1pm.
It is expected to reopen on Thursday at 9am, though the public was advised to check official channels as the opening could be delayed over weather.
