All-female panel to talk leadership

An author, speaker and researcher will lead a discussion about women’s leadership and collaboration at Pier Six on Front Street this week.

A statement said Christie Hunter-Arscott will moderate the panel during Bermuda’s International Women’s Day celebration on Friday.

Ms Hunter-Arscott, named by Thinkers50 as one of the top management thinkers likely to shape the future of business, was a Bermuda Day Parade grand marshal in 2023 and serves on the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard Kennedy School.

She will chat with panellists Denise Carey, executive director and chief executive of Home; Tiffanne Thomas, chief operations officer at Family Centre; and Nicola Paugh, executive director of the Non-Profit Alliance of Bermuda, during the Friday forum organised by the Women’s Resource Centre as part of Women’s History Month.

This year’s IWD theme is “Give to Gain”. All funds raised from the celebration, set to take place from 8am to 11am, will directly benefit WRC’s 2026 programmes and services.

WRC is also organising the second annual HERStory festival in the Town of St George on March 28.

The Arcades on Water Street will provide a central hub, sponsored by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and curated by business owner Kristin White.

The free, family-friendly community event celebrates women’s stories, leadership, creativity and entrepreneurship while fostering connection and economic empowerment.

A statement added: “The day will feature performances by local artists, author readings, free history tours of the town and a dynamic ‘She Made History’ panel discussion highlighting the impact of women past and present.

“The Eastern Economic Empowerment Zone will host a special entrepreneurship workshop designed to spotlight female entrepreneurs in Bermuda and provide practical information, guidance and support for women interested in starting or expanding their businesses.”

Juanae Crockwell, WRC executive director, said: “This festival is the embodiment of our mission and our work to ensure that women have safe spaces to exist fully and safely and to celebrate the incredible value we bring to our community.”

During the 2025 fiscal year, WRC offered 529 hours of free counselling support to 97 women and hosted four legal clinics, three community birthing class series and ten education workshops.

Ms Crockwell added: “Women’s History Month is not only about reflecting on how far we have come, it is also about recognising the power of collective support and intentional investment in the wellbeing of women today — when we give to one another, we all gain.”

Details can be found at wrcbermuda.com/events although the Friday event is sold out.
