Herstory Festival highlights the women of Bermuda’s history
A free community event in the East End this weekend will celebrate the history and accomplishments of Bermudian women.
The second annual Herstory Festival, hosted by the Women’s Resource Centre, will feature live entertainment and interactive activities curated by Kristin White of the gift shop and tour centre Long Story Short.
Juanae Crockwell, the WRC’s executive director, said: “This festival is about more than celebration — it is about visibility, connection and honouring the legacy of women who have shaped Bermuda, while creating space for the next generation to be inspired.”
The festival’s main driver will be the She Made History Dialogue Series hosted by Bermuda Broadcasting Company journalist Jasmine Patterson.
The discussion panel will include Carika Weldon, the founder and head of CariGenetics laboratory; Chelsea Warren, the founder of athleisure brand Uptimum Bodied; Cathy Duffy, a leader in Bermuda’s insurance industry; and Sophia Greaves, a director at Conyers Dill & Pearman law firm.
The main stage at The Arcades will feature musical performances by singer-songwriter Aalai, Bermuda Idol winner DeMara Maybury and vocalist Olivia Hamilton.
The festival will also feature performances by violinist Naphisa Smith and music by DJ Purple Ferdinand, as well as live author readings and storytelling.
Arts and crafts, including face painting and henna designs, will be featured at the festival, alongside knitting sessions, tarot readings and creative workshops.
Historical tours will be available across the Unesco World Heritage Site, while sites such as the Mitchell House Museum and the Globe House Museum will be open.
The festival will be held between 12pm and 6pm on Water Street in St George’s.
