Post office set to reopen next month after delays
The Mangrove Bay Post Office is expected to reopen its doors next month after “additional time” was required to finalise refurbishment work.
The facility shut its doors in September 2025 for “essential renovations” to improve safety with work expected to be completed by March.
However, it was announced in February that the project was on track to be completed by May.
However, a spokesman for the Bermuda Post Office said the facility is now scheduled to welcome back customers on July 6.
He said: “The project has involved extensive renovations to improve the safety, functionality and overall environment of the facility for both customers and staff.
“While significant progress has been made, additional time is required to complete the remaining work and ensure the building is fully prepared for public use.
“Once reopened, the upgraded Mangrove Bay Post Office will provide a substantially improved customer experience, featuring enhanced airflow, a secure and level floor, refreshed interior finishes and a safer, more welcoming environment overall.”
Diallo Rabain, the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Digital Information, said: “The Government remains committed to investing in critical public infrastructure and ensuring that these facilities are completed to the highest standard.
“While we recognise the inconvenience caused by the extended closure, this additional time is necessary to ensure the Mangrove Bay Post Office is fully operational, safe and ready to serve the community for years to come.
“We appreciate the public’s continued patience and understanding as work progresses towards completion.”
Until July 6, mail addressed to Mangrove Bay post boxes will continue to be redirected to the Southampton Post Office for customers to collect, while the Warwick Post Office will manage parcel deliveries ordinarily processed at Mangrove Bay.
