Hamilton looks back on top achievements of 2025
“Milestone moments” last year in Hamilton are highlighted in the City’s third annual report — an overview of the achievements of 2025 hailed by Michael Branco, the mayor, as demonstrating “our ongoing commitment to openness, accountability and delivering high-quality services”.
The Corporation of Hamilton won recognition last year from the Information Commissioner’s Office for “leadership in proactive transparency”. The City also celebrated completing major King Street infrastructure improvements, including road resurfacing and upgrades to the sidewalks.
Last year came with the continued restoration of Fort Hamilton and the formal commemoration of George Ogden, the City’s former parks superintendent, for his transformation of its parks and green spaces
On the technology front, Hamilton introduced licence-plate recognition for parking technology and launched a redesigned website.
The City got waterfront enhancements and public art installations, and conducted its first satisfaction survey, with 93 per cent of businesses happy with Hamilton as a place to operate and 85 per cent of residents recommending it as a place to live.
The report gave “key priorities for the year ahead”, including modernising services — such as “smart parking technology and digital services”.
