Sandcastle competition postponed until next year
Business and other commitments have caused the Bermuda Sandcastle Competition to be postponed until next year.
Hannah Emmerson, the organiser of the annual event, told The Royal Gazette that she could not dedicate as much time to the competition as usual after she and her partner expanded their business, Bermuda Jewellery, this year.
She explained: “Things have changed and escalated and I informed our sponsors in June that I could not contribute as much time as the event requires — it’s very sad, because all of us are volunteers.”
A social-media post on Monday said that the competition this year was postponed owing to “unforeseen circumstances”, but will return “bigger and better than before” in 2027.
Ms Emmerson said new organisers would expand the event next year and were expected to make a formal announcement next month.
