The Bermuda Police Service has put out a call for additional recruits, inviting those interested in a career in law enforcement to apply to become police constables.

In order to be considered for the next recruit foundation course, candidates will need to pass the Police Service Initial Recruitment Test, a job-related fitness test, security checks, suitability testing, psychological evaluation, medical assessment and get the approval of an assessment board.

Candidates should have a Bermuda School Certificate or equivalent qualification, be between the ages of 18 and 49, be fit to perform the duties and demonstrate a suitable level of proficiency in the English language.

Non-Bermudian applicants who are permitted by the Department of Immigration to work or seek employment in Bermuda may also be considered for recruitment, provided that they have been ordinarily resident in Bermuda for a minimum of three years.

The closing date for the recruitment drive is September 25 with full eligibility details available online at joinus.bps.bm.

Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, said last August that 420 officers would make the ideal complement. It followed his remarks in 2024 that the BPS were down to their lowest numbers since 1979.
