Amstel Ultra makes big push to enliven sports calendar

Amstel Ultra is highlighting the importance of a balanced lifestyle to sport and recreation with a new campaign launching this month. The 85-calorie ultra-light beer brand is hosting a series of events to encourage the enjoyment of activity. There will be a minimum of one event experience each month and the contests range from running to golf with an official launch party featuring a variety of beach sports set for May, including rugby, volleyball, football and tennis.

The events began on Tuesday at the five-day MTM Bermuda tennis tournament, which features many of the island’s top players. On the final two days of the tournament — today and tomorrow — there will be a Fan Zone set up for spectators to enjoy the matches in lounge seating with a DJ, food and drinks, door prizes, games and much more. The event is also sponsored by Lucozade, which has contributed to the energising the athletes throughout the tournament.

A spokesman for Burrows & Lightbourn Ltd, the local distributor on island, said: “We’re really excited with the fresh events we’ve developed and expect to see fantastic competition throughout the year.”

Amstel Ultra Event Calendar

• Fast 4 Invitational (MTM Bermuda, March 22 to 26)

• Amstel Open (Belmont Hills Golf Course, April 30)

• Amstel Ultra Launch Party (Horseshoe Bay, May 21)

• Ultra 5K (Admiralty House, autumn season)

An event organiser said: “When conceptualising the events we reached out to the respective organisations, but felt it more necessary to receive the athletes’ input in terms of what they would like to see done in Bermuda. There has been a lot of interest in the events scheduled between now and May, so we can’t wait to deliver a high-quality series, as we know people are already big fans of the beer.”
