Toby Wright handed first defeat of the season in cup competition

An upset was recorded in the first round of the Island Construction Services Cup when Spanish Point Boat Club I defeated SPBC II 3-2 in an exciting contest.

Tyler Moniz opened the scoring for Point II, when he overcame Alan Smith 62-35. Todd Dziak took out Richard Burton 58-9 to equalise for Point I. Captain Stewart Greenslade had Point I in front when he triumphed 57-43 over Toby Wright – the first defeat of the season for the newcomer.

The see-saw battle continued, this time around Point II levelling matters when their captain John Orr stormed back to equalise with a win against Chris Dakin.

With all to play for at 2-2, it came down to the battle between Dziak and Orr, which the former took 42-30 to win it for Point I.

In the same competition, Watford Sports Club made home advantage count in their favour, as they defeated Warwick Workmen’s Club II 3-1.

Scott Barnes opened his campaign for Warwick by seeing off Watford's Keino Zuill 41-34. Jacal Washington, in his debut for Watford pulled his team back into the contest, a 54-38 over Zane DeSilva making it 1-1.

Watford went on to build on that momentum, Trevor “Kidd” Mouchette 42-34 triumphant against Steven Bremar in the third frame.

Aaron Bean, the Watford captain secured the win when he prevailed 50-20 over Keith Smith in the fourth frame.

In a league make up game, Warwick II thumped Point 5-1 at Point.

A 62-42 win for Scott Barnes when he faced Greenslade had Warwick in the lead. The equaliser came from Alan, courtesy of a 52-45 success over Barnes. Warwick’s lead was restored, Zane DeSilva doing the job with a 57-24 victory against Chris Dakin.

In the battle of the captains, it was Steven Bremar who prevailed for Warwick, his victory being 47-44 on the blackball over Greenslade.

Warwick continued to cruise, with DeSilva making it 4-1 after seeing off Dakin 59-24. Bremar sealed the win for Warwick when he overcame Smith 68-16 in the final frame.
