Pickleball Elite Series winners crowned

The mixed doubles medal winners at Pickleball Elite Series tournament

It’s a busy time of year for Bermuda’s pickleball players with a number of tournaments taking place this month.

The Pickleball Association Bermuda Summer Elite Series continued at WER Joell Tennis Stadium last weekend, with games being played at a number of levels and medals awarded for those victorious in doubles in the 4.0+ division

Melisa Judd and Patricia Mills picked up the gold medal in the women’s doubles after beating Laverne Stowe and Imani Phillips in the final. Christine Todd and Sarah Jane Jones finished third.

It’s rare that a pickleball or tennis tournament goes by without Gavin Manders appearing in the list of winners and just 24 hours before he won his tenth Deloitte Tennis Open singles title, he teamed up with Mills to win the pickleball mixed doubles. The pair beat Jones and Jamie Stowe Jr in the final with Judd and Michael Way finishing third.

Ryan Faries and Kyle Tucker won the men’s doubles by beating Alan Hoes and Bill Bucci in the final.

The final elite 4.5+ division matches will be played next week after the conclusion of the Deloitte Pickleball Open, which started on Sunday at Pomander Gate Tennis and Pickleball Club. With more than 170 entries, games take place all week, with the semi-finals and finals taking place on Saturday
