Weather could prove factor in Cup Match

Inclement weather might affect the free flow of action in the Cup Match at Wellington Oval, with heavy showers predicted on Friday.

According to the Bermuda Weather Service, the first day should prove popular with spectators with long spells of sunshine expected, but the forecast for Friday looks gloomy.

“A weak pressure pattern allows for mainly fine, dry and sunny conditions through midweek with light winds,” reads the forecast on the Bermuda Weather Service website.

“Towards the holiday weekend, low pressure moving off the US coast sends more organised showers towards the Island with an increasing breeze.”

While the weather has been perfect for the past three Cup matches, rain has been a factor in the recent past. In 2021, when the Annual Classic made a return after the Covid-19 pandemic, rain affected play on the first day with multiple delays.

However, the sky cleared up on the second day, paving way for the fans to witness Somerset sweeping to victory by ten wickets.
