Coral Beach is expected to be buzzing tomorrow when the inaugural National Beach Volleyball Championships takes place at the venue.

The historic event coincides with the Bermuda Volleyball Association’s 50th Anniversary and marks a major milestone in the development of beach volleyball in Bermuda.

Bermuda’s top male and female beach volleyball athletes, including members of the island’s national teams, will be competing for the prestigious title of national champion.

“The Bermuda Volleyball Association is proud to host the Island’s inaugural National Beach Volleyball Championships on Saturday, August 9, from 9am to 5pm at Coral Beach,” the BVA said.

“Spectators can look forward to a day of elite competition, showcasing local talent in a high-energy atmosphere complete with music, prizes, and a vibrant beachside crowd. A centre court will be set up to highlight the top matches throughout the day.”

Meagan McPeek, the event organiser, views the occasion as a perfect opportunity to acknowledge the growth of the sport on the island.

“This is a celebration of the incredible growth of beach volleyball in Bermuda,” she said.

“It’s not only an opportunity for our top athletes to shine, but also a chance for the community to come together and support the sport at a national level.”

While expressing its appreciation to the sponsors, the volleyball association invited those who wish to volunteer on the day.

“The BVA welcomes all volunteers to assist with logistics, scoring and general event support,” the association added. “No experience is necessary, just a passion for sport and community.”

“The BVA also extends heartfelt thanks to its premier sponsors, Butterfield & Vallis, CDA Designs, Bermuda Spirits, T & P Painting, Coral Beach Tennis and Beach Club, whose generous support has helped bring this milestone event to life.

“Spectator parking will be available at Elbow Beach, with a short walk to the venue at Coral Beach.

“To volunteer, inquire about future sponsorship, or learn more about us, please contact meagan.mcpeek@gmail.com, or bdavb@hotmail.com.”
