Esports Bermuda to hold first tournament
Game On Sports Bar and Grill is expected to be teeming with gamers on Saturday for Esports Bermuda’s inaugural EA FC tournament.
Adrian Lodge, the Esports Bermuda founder, stated that the event is an opportunity for local gamers to put their talent on display.
“We are holding our first event on Saturday, where there’s going to be EA FC, formerly Fifa,” Lodge said.
“So far we've got 20 people registered and we can accommodate up to 32. We are targeting participants from the age of 14 and older.
“The tournament will showcase local talent and provide players with a competitive platform, while fans can follow the action through live coverage. Registration details and additional information on the event can be found at http://esports.bm.
“For this tournament we have a first prize of $300. We also have bonus prizes for first, second and third from our sponsor, Paradise Mobile.”
According to Lodge, through assistance from the Bermuda Olympic Association, his organisation has earned global recognition.
“We have been working with the Bermuda Olympic Association for about eight months,” he said.
“They actually approached us to form this organisation, just because they didn’t have anyone locally for Esports. Every time they go away to the Pan American Games or the Olympics, there is always an Esports component.
“They wanted to put together some sort of Bermudian team and that is why they reached out to us. We became officially registered with the Global Esports Federation in February, thanks to the Olympic committee, who actually put us in touch with them.
“This year, our short-term focus is on getting tournaments together to determine who is actually good enough to represent Bermuda at these Games.
“We are looking for sponsorship and volunteers to help shape the future of Esports in Bermuda. Those interested can contact us at info@esports.bm.
“Our vision is to see Bermuda recognised on the global Esports stage. By fostering local talent, building structured leagues and creating international pathways, we are setting the foundation for long-term success.”
