Yushae DeSilva-Andrade and Omar Hayward’s search for a first win at the Cali 2025 World Boccia Americas Regional Championships in Colombia continues after losing their opening matches.

Para-Athlete Hayward suffered defeats at the hands of Mexican Eduardo Reyes (1-10) and Peru’s Roly Castro Nunez (4-7) in the BC1 Male category.

Paralympian DeSilva-Andrade lost to Brazilian Andreza Oliveira (2-5) in a highly competitive BC1 female match that saw the two rivals deadlocked until the final throw.

“It was a fantastic game and coach Larry and I are very pleased with my performance,” she said. “I was able to implement several strategies we practised.”

Coach Larry “Muscles” Hunt, the former Somerset Trojans player, expressed admiration for the duo’s resilience and great tenacity competing against some of the world's top competitors.

The local contingent in Cali also includes court assistants Alshante Andrade and Bridget Hayward.
