England’s most capped rugby player on island for education fair

England’s most capped rugby union player will be in Bermuda next week as part of Beach Education’s annual UK Education Fair.

Ben Youngs, who played 127 times for England at scrum half and started the 2019 Rugby World Cup final, is now head of performance sport at Gresham’s School, which was recently named Tatler’s Best Public School for 2026.

The education fair will take place on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 at Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) and Youngs will be on hand to meet families and share insights into high‑performance sport within the British boarding school system.

A special Q&A session with Youngs will take place on Sunday at 2pm ahead of the main fair, along with a talk given by representatives of sporting powerhouse Millfield and other top sports schools on how they nurture sporting talent.

The Education Fair is free to attend, with a number of leading schools featuring, including Bishop’s Stortford, Cheltenham College, Downe House (Girls), Millfield, Queen Ethelburga’s, Repton, and Wymondham College, the UK’s leading state boarding school offering an affordable option for families with access to a British passport.

The fair is in its tenth year and Beach Education Director Fiona Beach is thrilled to again be providing opportunities to match some of the UK’s best schools with Bermuda parents.

“We are thrilled to bring such an outstanding group of schools back to Bermuda,” Beach said.

“Each one offers exceptional academics, first‑class facilities, and exemplary pastoral care — but what truly sets them apart is the breadth of opportunity. From high‑performance sports to inspiring extracurricular programmes, these schools help young people discover their strengths and thrive.

“Gresham’s is an exciting new addition this year, and with world‑class sporting coaches — including England rugby great Ben Youngs — joining us, families will have a unique chance to explore what a British boarding education can offer. I encourage all families to come along, meet the school representatives, and learn about everything from scholarships to summer camps.

“Every child is unique, and our role is to guide families towards the environment where their child will flourish. Whether a family is considering the UK, Europe, Canada, or staying in Bermuda, it’s empowering to understand the options.”
