Tucker’s Point Club have made Paul Adams their new director of golf.Adams, who has been head professional at the club since June 2007, takes over from the departing Jason Epstein next month.Epstein is leaving the Island to take up a similar position at the Jack Nicklaus course, The Club at Las Campanas in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Adams will officially take over on April 21.“Paul (Adams) has fantastic energy and will be a fantastic leader,” said Epstein.“He understands what it takes to be successful, and more importantly has the wisdom and knowledge needed to ensure the success of the golf operation continues.“He is surrounded by a fantastic team of professionals who together, will solidify Tucker’s Point’s golf experience and brand on a global level”.Brian Young, Tucker’s Point’s general manager made the announcement in a letter to members earlier this week, and said Adams’ strong relationships with the club’s members meant he was ideally suited to his new role.“Paul (Adams) has an obvious passion for the playing experience at Tucker’s Point and for Bermuda golf in general,” said Young.“This coupled with his strong relationships with our many members and his contributions to the Tucker’s Point management team, make Paul ideally suited for his new role.“Jason (Epstein) has accomplished much in his two-and-a-half year tenure at Tucker’s Point.“We are sorry to say adieu, and hope the Epsteins will return to Bermuda often to visit their many friends in our club and in the community.”Adams meanwhile heaped praise on the outgoing Epstein, and said he had learnt a lot from a man he called his ‘mentor’.“Jason (Epstein) has been a huge part of the success of the Tucker’s Point Golf operation, his experience, core values have made a huge difference to every member of the team,” he said. “His understanding of the golf experience for both members and tourists are a key component of what has made us successful. Building on this foundation will ensure Tucker’s Point continues to be the leading golf experience on the island.“Jason has been a fantastic mentor to all staff at Tucker’s Point, especially to myself, and I cannot thank him enough for his energy and wisdom that he has given us in his time here.”
