Bogey-free Sims ends strong

Michael Sims shot a bogey-free three-under par 68 to finish in a tie for 41 at the Midwest Classic yesterday.It was Sims’ ssecond successive bogey-free round of and saw him finish at 12-under for the tournament.The Bermuda professional walked away with a cheque for nearly $2500 for his week’s work, but more importantly, Sims put together four rounds all below 70. Yesterday, Sims had birdies at holes six, eight and 15, and on Saturday he birdied four, 12 and 15. The Nationwide Tour now moves to Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee for this week’s News Sentinel Open.n Australia's James Nitties won the Midwest Classic on Saturday for his first Nationwide Tour title after shooting with a 6-under 65 for a five-stroke victory. Nitties earned $99,000 to jump from 53rd to 12th on the money list with $150,537, putting him in position to earn a 2012 PGA Tour card as top-25 finisher on the final list.
