Golfers vie for Public Links crown

Bermuda’s first Public Links Championships tees off today at the Ocean View Golf Course before moving to Port Royal for the final rounds tomorrow. Both men and ladies are entered for the strokeplay tournament, which also features a seniors division.Prizes will be handed out for both net and gross winners on each day.Organiser Alex Madeiros of To A Tee said he was pleased with the number of entrants.“The are no overseas players this year, however we expect that to change in the coming years,” said Madeiros. “We have roughly 40 golfers at the moment with potential to pick up a couple more, and our target was 40 to start the competition.”Play begins this morning at 8am with a shotgun start.
