Roy joins Fairmont Southampton as director of golf

Scott Roy

The Fairmont Southampton has welcomed Scott Roy as the new director of golf for Turtle Hill Golf Club at Fairmont Southampton.

Roy started his golfing journey at Turtle Hill aged 13, working outside services to gain early experience in hospitality, the golf course and golf shop.

He is a graduate of Mount Saint Agnes Academy, St Mary’s in Halifax and the Golf Academy in Orlando.

Roy returned to the island after university and became a golf teaching professional after completing the Golf Professionals programme in Orlando.

He has held positions at Riddell’s Bay Golf Club, the Bermuda Golf Association, and as president of the PGA of Bermuda.

Roy has represented Bermuda at the World Golf Championships in Venezuela, competed on the Canadian Golf Tour and has won numerous events in Bermuda.

“I am truly excited to be the director of golf at Turtle Hill Golf Club and Fairmont Southampton,” he said. “As a junior golfer working here on weekends and holidays, I got my first taste of what a golf career could be and fell in love with it.

“I look forward to bringing my years of experience and growth to Turtle Hill, from playing, teaching, coaching, tournament administration and rules of golf, merchandising and team work.

“Fairmont Southampton brings with it some of my favourite things, golf, hospitality and the drive to exceed expectations to those who visit the island and work on the property.”
