Women’s golfers Linda Down, Tracy Burgess, Katrin Burnie, Liz Carpio, Carine Brule Valerie Nearon, Angela Cook,, Katyna Rabain, Lesley Wollmann and Tracy Nash

Bermuda’s women shot to the top of the leaderboard after round two of the Kitty Michael Invitational on Wednesday.

Island representatives finished first and second in the gross competition at El Conquistador Golf Club with Carine Brule beating out more than 100 other players to come out on top in round two with a score of 7 over on the par-72 course.

Brule finished two shots clear of compatriots Tracy Burgess and Katrin Burnie, who finished tied for second with Donna Basil from the US Virgin Islands.

Burgess has maintained her lead in the tournament standings but her advantage has been whittled away by team-mate Brule. After two successive rounds of 81, Burgess holds a one-shot advantage over Brule, with Basil two shots further back with a round top play.

Burnie sits tenth, with Linda Down tied for eleventh and Tracy Nash sharing eighteenth position. Lesley Wollman occupies 41st place with Elizabeth Carpio and Katyna Rabain tied for 48th. Angela Cook is tied for 60th with 18 holes left to play and Valerie Nearon is tied for 63rd.

The performances also give them a good chance of taking home the team title when the tournament concludes on Thursday.
